The Battle of Montlhéry
It was a scorching hot July in 1465 and Louis XI had been king of France for four years. The French aristocrats didn’t think King Louis XI acted like a king. He didn’t preside over a traditional court like his predecessors. He constantly rode around his kingdom in shabby clothes on horseback, sometimes hunting, sometimes working, sometimes both at once.
