Regarding the suppression of the Jesuits, MM writes,
Too many, however, are critical of the Pope without considering the situation at the time and the circumstances he found himself in.
An Augustinian friar who taught one of my Catholic religion classes in college said the hands of his predecessors [of his order] weren't clean either.
