Between Marie Therese Charlotte's exiles did she ever return to the palace of Versailles? It is often mention that when the royal family was escorted to Paris that "they would never see Versailles again". This could be true because of her many traumatic experiences but I feel like that statement must be incorrect. Thanks for any input.

Madame Royale did indeed visit Versailles again after the Revolution, in 1814 during the First Bourbon Restoration.

Soon she was back again in Paris, arriving at the Tuileries on the13th. The King, however, chose this time to grant her wish to visit her childhood home, Versailles, and on August 17th, for the first time in 25 years, Marie Therese returned to the palace.

Personally, I can only imagine how bittersweet that muse have been for her to go there, it was a palace full of happy memories of her childhood, but likely also of ghosts for her as well.

Thank you so much. I agree that had to be a difficult visit. It seems she would have been more comfortable living in Versailles, away from Paris.

Yes, she hated living once again in the dreadful Tuilierries. A place where she only encountered fear and violence.
