Jean-Philippe Rameau was a French musician, composer and writer born on September 25, 1683 in Dijon. Details of his early life are scarce as he did not discuss this time of his life, not even with his wife.

Awe, he seems to have had a comparatively happy life --- artists usually have their biographies speckled with tragedy or alcoholism. It's sweet to see someone chase their dreams without leaving a trail of corpses behind them...

You are so right Bunnies. I'm finding a lot of these French artists started out as lawyers and/or worked for the department of the forests! They find it's not satisfying work and end up doing what they really love. Thanks for reading. Susan
